Groundcover @ Index
‘The Gamut’, is an art project that will involve drawing on the face of the city, the rough outline of The Sydney Green Ring. Artworks will be made around, about, and on The Sydney Green Ring that will emphasize the continuity, interconnectedness, and potential unity of the disparate civic assets and cycling infrastructure that now exist in relative disconnection from each other. Groundcover is a site specific series of interventions in the landscape, and was tested as part of the Sketching the Gamut using “The Golden Triangle” surrounding Index in October 2011. Every pothole (of which there are many) in the block surrounding the gallery had a bespoke AstroTurf insert cut to scale and placed in situ.
